Just like the Undated Filter it would be great to have an Untagged filter. My understanding is that right now, to get that result, I would need to filter and exclude each of the tags I use. Needless to say if you use more than a handful of tags, having an Untagged filter would be much easier.
Maybe I'm missing something, but can't you just create an "Untagged" list with filter type "Tag" and in the Exclude entry, put # ? You shouldn't have to add all your tags, just the # symbol.

Yes, you are right. I didn't quiet wrap my head around the fact that the Tag filter is basically a simple text search, there is no special tag magic, and it can be used for search for any arbitrary string.
I'm using it now for two things:
Tag: Exclude: "#" - All untagged items
Tag: Include: "Call " - All items with the word "Call" in them
