Accounts: do I really need to pay extra to sync between MacOS and iPhone?

I just purchased the desktop version of Goodtask, for a relatively hefty price of 49.90€. After downloading the iPhone app, it syncs the tasks and lists, but tells me I have only 14 days to go and limitations to usage - unless I pay either a one-time additional purchase or yearly 9.99€ subscription. Have to say this feels like a cheat to me - certainly the expensive cost for MacOS account should cover all the devices I have. Please advise.

Hi @Elukkae, thanks for using GoodTask.

Currently you need to get it separately on iOS and Mac App Stores.

GoodTask is a basic one-time purchase product and it's made separately for iOS and macOS. Making iOS and macOS app needs somewhat separate skills and the apps are pretty different as you see.

Things have changed during the years now that some apps share iOS and macOS components but GoodTask was made before the days. The app has been updated for many years without additional payments.

For services that charge you monthly could provide apps on different platforms at once but GoodTask is not going that path. I hope you understand.

Thanks!

OK, thanks. It's not a massive sum - I assume then one app purchase covers both my iPhone and my iPad.

Yes, iOS version covers iOS, iPadOS, watchOS and visionOS. Thanks!
