Apple Shortcut | Skip

I have a set of repeating tasks that I would like to appear on a certain day of the week and then skip to their next occurrence, even if they have not been completed (kind of like a repeating calendar event).

I tagged each of these reoccurring tasks with #routine, set up a smart list that filters down to tasks due today with the filter #routine, and have an Apple shortcut automated (shown in the image) to run at the end of each day.

What is happening is that all of the tasks with the #Routine are getting moved to their next occurrence, not just those that are due today. I cannot figure out why it is behaving this way.

Any insights or guidance you can share?

Hi @neilb , thanks for the feedback.

Would you check if your selected list '#routine tod' is showing only the tasks you want to change?

You may want to check if you're in List view rather than Day view which may show only the tasks due today.

Thanks!

The smartest view is working as expected based on the filters, Including a list view. Yesterday I changed the shortcut to complete the task instead of skip the task. So far it looks like last night's automated shortcut achieved, the desired behavior. Perhaps my understanding of what Skip does is inaccurate. Fingers crossed this current approach will continue to work

'Skip' quick action should normally change due date to next upcoming date without completing the task. Hope it works well next time. Thanks!
