It’s very possible I’m totally missing something, but how to I make only the calendar events for today show in the Today list view?

Normally if you set scheduled filter, calendar events will be shown accordingly.
You can set Lists and Calendars on ‘Edit list’ page which should get the job done.
When I go to set a filter on calendars I'm only given the option to include or exclude tags. There's nothing there that allows me to tell it to only display today's events that I can see.
