Groups of lists

Is there a way to create groups of list so I could, for instance, see all groups except Groceries? I see information about groups and smart lists, which seem to point in this direction. I guess I just don't understand groups and smart lists. Is there a link I can read in a manual that might answer my question?

You can make a smart list and inside Lists page inside editing list page, you can choose ‘Specific(Exclude)’ and choose the list to exclude.
