A while back, I somehow figured out how to hide inline notes when viewing a list and instead show a little notes icon.
How do I do this for other lists? I can't seem to find the setting anymore.

You can go into Settings > Appearance > Task Display and adjust 'Default' option to work on all list views. You can make another option and set it per list if you'd like to.
