Possible bug when creating a reminder from an email

Hi, I was looking for the best way to create a reminder from an email on macOS (with Apple Mail) and found the recommended "drag&drop" way here on the forum. It does work, but there are a couple of problems:

  1. The link is not clickable in GoodTask (not recognized as a URL);
  2. After opening the same item in Apple Reminders, which shows the URL as a clickable "Show in Mail…", the link disappears, and GoodTask only keeps "Show in Mail…" as plain text; any link to the original message is lost.

Is there a better way to create a reminder from an email while maintaining the link to the original message?

I am also having issues with the most recent version(s) of Goodtask when dragging and dropping email. The link created only has part of it highlighted and the link created is a "mailto:" link rather than the full "message:" link that would open the actual message in Mac's Mail app.

So unless I amend the link in Goodtask that is created when dragging and dropping mail into it, I get a link that opens a new email addressed to the URL the message is located on. It's a pain, and I have no idea if it is a Mac OS problem in it is making assumptions about the nature of the link just because there is an @ symbol in the URL or if it is Goodtask related.

e.g. in Goodtask once I have drag and dropped a message in I get:

message:%3C!&!AAAAAAAAAAAuAAAAAAAAALrvTFiW+xxIqR+T03rCuD0BAMO2jhD3dRHOtM0AqgC7tuYAAAAAAA4AABAAAACmXVkYgCvxQrkGIdxlmM1wAQAAAAA=@somedomain.com%3E

has only ...

3C!&!AAAAAAAAAAAuAAAAAAAAALrvTFiW+xxIqR+T03rCuD0BAMO2jhD3dRHOtM0AqgC7tuYAAAAAAA4AABAAAACmXVkYgCvxQrkGIdxlmM1wAQAAAAA=@somedomain.com

... highlighted as a link and it opens the link ...

mailto:3C!&!AAAAAAAAAAAuAAAAAAAAALrvTFiW+xxIqR+T03rCuD0BAMO2jhD3dRHOtM0AqgC7tuYAAAAAAA4AABAAAACmXVkYgCvxQrkGIdxlmM1wAQAAAAA=@somedomain.com

... thus creating a new email in Mail app addressed to 3C!&!AAAAAAAAAAAuAAAAAAAAALrvTFiW+xxIqR+T03rCuD0BAMO2jhD3dRHOtM0AqgC7tuYAAAAAAA4AABAAAACmXVkYgCvxQrkGIdxlmM1wAQAAAAA=@somedomain.com

Thanks for the feedback.

Due to some limitations, the link itself is not clickable on notes field like you mentioned.

Try clicking 'Mail Link' button at the very bottom of right pane. It should open the connected mail thread.

Thanks!

I didn't notice the button, thanks!

You can also use 'Open URL' quick action.

After adding it on Quick Actions, you can setup keyboard shortcut in ' - System Preferences - Keyboard - Shortcuts - App Shortcuts'.

Set 'Menu Title' as 'Open URL' and add keyboard shortcut you want to use.

Thanks!

Very helpful thanks! I also did not notice the mail link button, but this and your shortcut tips are great. Much appreciated!
