Proposal: easy access to different +defined matrix views per list

I find the matrix view a real level-up!
(– I don´t like the word 'game-changer' haunting too many forums )

It really opens up an already mind-blasting task + note app to some more uses covering more strategical & steering oriented use-cases, IMO.

In that, I´d really like to have an easier way to switch between different matrix-views within one list.
Currently one can change the set-up/view of the matrix mode via the dropdown picker which shows the global set of matrix views.
I think it would be a great leap in UI/UX for this special mode, if one could more easily switch btw a curated/preset list of matrix views for any specific list/context.
It really would turbocharge the use of this whole 'triage' and 'overview'-mode represented in the matrix view!

Thanks for the feedback.

I think simply tapping twice (or touch and swipe down) to change the type seems pretty easy, isn't it?

If you have other ideas, please let me know. Thanks!

Don't get me wrong. It's not really complicated.
I just think it could improve & have an even better flow.
So, it would be nice if matrix view – or changing it from one to other – would behave even more similar to the kanban-view. E.g. swipe left/right across the center (intersection of matrix lines) could move forward/backward to next/previous matrix setting.
I think this could also improve coherence of UX btw kanban & matrix views.
Another idea: it would also make things easier if users could set matrix views (sort order & selection) for matrix views per list, just like for the tags. Again, would also increase coherence of overall logic.

Just some ideas.
– As you can tell, I really like the matrix view :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for detail explanation. I'll keep it on the list to consider. Thanks!

Thanks, Haha wizard!
Appreciate this.

Acutally, I would put my real request one level more into the basics department, with the wish for such a comfortable UI representation of different matrix presets as the "luxury" version.

This is bec I realized only after making that initial proposal/request, that GT does have no binding of specific list to initial matrix preset whatsoever :no_mouth:
Given the way tag set-up are list specific (and the general versatility of GT), I was "naturally" assuming that at least the initial state of matrix preset is list specific. But I am finding, everytime I switch lists, the matrix view for the new list is simply "stuck" at the prior setting.
I would really hope this can be improved. The whole charme of the matrix (or huge parts of it) is being able to quickly glance and browse it w/ lot of information in one glance. This whole advantage is kind of negated, when I first need to re-set the right matrix view for any particular list each and any time.

Hope this is possible, and can find its way up on the list, somehow.

Thx again not only for this wonderful app, but for continuous meaningful development!!

As this relates to the set-up of matrix definitions – and doesn´t really warrant a separate thread:
I noticed that after changing tag filter of a matrix quadrant the pre-assigned title automatically changes. Often this is not intended or always really productive.

Hi @lerone , thanks for the feedback. When there is a single filter selected, title gets automatically set. I see that it would not be needed on some occasions but it's hard to tell.

I'll keep your feedback though. And for the post above, I'll check it as 'Default matrix view type per list'.

Thanks!

Great many thanks!

just to clarify: the change of set quadrant title for me also occurs whenever I add or remove any tag from a set of tags. In which case, no single tag would probably be adequate as representatitve label anyhow. Mainly I wanted to point to this situation, where these "collective/subsuming" labels are changed involuntarily whenever I change anything in the tag set setting…

Keep up your excellent work!
