Setting a Start Date changed my Due Date

I kept trying to set a smart date and it kept changing the due date on me so I mucked around changing the Quick Action and, now I think I've messed up Start Date quick option completely because in trying to fix it, here's what's going on:

  1. I set a Due Date on my task in the Task Detail pane
  2. I click on Start Date in the Task detail pane - which by the way says Sun, Today in grey type beneath it - I get a dialog box and I enter X.
  3. Now my Due Date is moved to the original Due Date plus X.
  4. I also tried putting +X in the dialog and same things happens.
  5. Either way all it does it change the Due Date, it its List or any smart list it's set to show up in.

Here's the last iteration of how I made the Start Date Quick Action:

  1. Contextual: Date
  2. +Days

I'm going crazy. Can you tell me how to make a Start Date Quick Action that will work and how to use it properly? I'm not a super smart geek. I've been using GoodTask on a "for dummies" basis for years and I know it can do tons more than I understand but when I try to read the documentation it assumes too much fore knowledge I don't have.

I love your app and especially how incredibly responsive you are but I'm going nuts! :joy: :pray:

Sigh. Of COURSE the second I went back to GoodTask after posting this I saw the ICON that let's you set start date and it works perfectly. So, if there IS a way to do it with quick action "button" I'd still love to know that because besides being dumb and crazy, I'm old and my eyes are screaming at me about the tiny grey icons. :joy: Thanks.

Hi @SharonPerp , thanks for the feedback.

Normally all the dates are handled based on 'Due date' first. Also when you have a due date, start date is basically same as due date and it's not shown by default.

Since Start date makes the app more complicated, if you don't need it heavily, I don't recommend using it.

For Quick actions, 'Contextual: Date' action changes both due date and start date. To adjust start date only, you need to change that quick action completely.

Thanks!

Thanks, so fast! How would I change it to start date only? I tried Prompt and that didn't seem to work.

Currently there is only one action with the name 'Start Date' that can be used in Quick Actions to adjust start date. It's somewhat limited compared to due date. You can pick between 'Today', adjust time or set Relative date. Thanks!
