What's the purpose of Edit: Tags in list settings?

Excuse the perhaps obvious question, but what is the purpose of the Edit: Tags button, next to Sort Options, when creating a new reminders list or editing an existing list? I can click the button and add tags, but that doesn't apply that tag to new tasks in the list by default. What does it do?

(I found this trying to add a specific tag to new items in a list by default, but I don't think that can be done?)

Hi @djb21au, thanks for the feedback.

This is used in 2 places.

  1. If you use 'Tag' sort option, it'll show these tags as sections.
  2. It'll show these tags in 'Board view - Tag'

If you keep it empty, it'll follow default settings which can also be empty. If it is, it'll fetch tags from smart list filters and quick actions automatically.

Thanks!

Kind of got the same question. Not getting the purpose of Edit: Tags. I create a new list and this option is there. What is it's purpose? I thought as the op did that it added those tags to every task, but it does not appear to.

Hi @svsmailus, thanks for using GoodTask. It's described as above. It's used in 2 places. If you're using default due date sort options, it'll only be used in 'Board view - Tag'. Thanks!

That's brilliant thanks! Means lists can be sorted even more!
